Economizer Evaluation ChecklistWhen I was with PECI, one of the projects I helped to support was the development and deployment of the Functional Testing Guide. The guide included a checklist that was targeted at evaluating economizers during design, construction, and existing building commissioning processes, which is illustrated to the left.
You can download the entire guide by following the link above. But since economizers are very common sources of opportunity for improving building efficiency, I wanted to highlight the checklist and have created this page where you can down load it along with the Mixed Air Section chapter from the functional testing guide. The checklist is in Word format and public domain, so you can feel free to edit it as needed, including changing the somewhat funky font that PECI was using at the time for their headers and footers. |
You will notice that the checklist has a lot of hyperlinks in it. In the "full blown" version of the guide, those links would take you to the place in the Mixed Air Section chapter that would provide support for the item in the checklist. Those links will probably not work with these extractions. But if you select the link in the Word document, right click, and then select the "Edit Hyperlink" option, you will be able to read a somewhat cryptic indication of where the link pointed and find the supporting information that way.
For instance, if you where to select the minimum outdoor air link in the example above, and pick the edit option, you would see that the address the link pointed to was \8%20-%20Economizer%20and%20Mixing%20Section.doc#MinOAFunction. What that is telling you is that if you opened the supporting document, you would find additional information in the section titled Minimum Outdoor Air Function. If you open the supporting document in Word, be sure to open the navigation pane because the document is pretty well bookmarked. For this example, you were to do that, you would see something like the following image.

As you can see, there is a heading that matches the (somewhat cryptic) link address above. The files below are the two files you will need to use the checklist.
