Existing Building Commissioning Workshop Series 14 Materials

Picture
As indicated on the main page, the true source for the materials for the existing building commissioning class workshop is the FTP site Ryan maintains.  If you need information regarding how to access it, you should contact him via e-mail at [email protected].  It would be desirable to include the words "EBCx Workshop Series Materials FTP Site Access" in the subject line to catch his attention.
The materials below are the materials I provide for the portions of the workshop that I teach.   I am going to keep placing them here so that you can access them before class if you want and also to make it easy for Ryan to pull them back for the FTP site.

Note that most of the time, I include a "READ ME" file in the zip file with the materials and resources that describes what each of the files is about.

Session 9
The Excel files below are the spreadsheets behind the plant analysis for the two chilled water plants I was using using to illustrate my technique for applying Plot Digitizer as a tool for turning a picture of data into actual data.  The link takes you to a blog post on the topic that also includes a look at the hydraulic drives on the primary pumps in the Gaylord plant as well as a chiller with a way to do free cooling with out a plate and frame heat exchanger, another feature of the plant.

The Gaylord plant spreadsheet included an example of needing a third axis in Excel, which lead to the discussion of how to go about doing that.  The third axis technique is now a blog post complete with the resources you need to try it out yourself.

I am working on a blog post that describes some of the analysis techniques I used in the spreadsheets, in particular the scatter plot of load vs. outdoor temperature.  I still have a ways to go on that one, but in the meantime, I have included two e-mails I wrote that describe the concept a bit.   The Atlanta Airport one also includes some information about shot feeders, coupon racks and 4-20 ma current loops.

Session 10
The files below are the files I used in class today along with some follow-up information I said I would provide.  The optimization example folder included with the lab session has a READ ME file in it that describes what the other files are.  The same is true for the follow up folder.

The zipfile to the left contains the files I used for the lecture, including the sample scope of work statement, point list, etc.  I also dug around in my technical photos a bit more after class and found some additional examples of valve tags/valve nameplates to you would have an idea of what you are looking for if you are trying to understand the make, model, size, etc. of an existing control valve out in the field.
Related to the scope of work and cost benefit calculation topic, the Developing Retro/commissioning Implementation Budgets; Focusing on Individual Findings blog post discusses the items I covered in lecture in more detail which includes links to some additional resources.

The zipfile to the left contains the files I mentioned I would follow-up with including the DOAS spreadsheets and the example of a metering plan.
The metering plan uses the EnergyStar Portfolio Manager API to keep the code required EnergyStar benchmark current for a facility in Seattle.  Since San Francisco has a similar requirement, the concept may be useful for projects in the Bay area.

There is a READ ME file included that explains the various files and folders in the zip file.
